You can visit the popular and village plants garden, the medieval garden, the modern garden, the fragrance garden and the white oak forest trail all year round, with the exception of a short period in winter (15 December to 1 February). An audioguide is available on request so that you can organise your walk around the gardens yourself. Naturally, the best time of year to visit is between March and October, when the plants and trails are looking their best. However, even if you visit in February or November, Salagon will still have a few secrets for you. In the fragrance garden, for example, the aromas and smells last right through the year.
If you visit as a group depending on the time you have available, take a tour with an expert guide. Either tour the site as whole or explore one or more of our themed gardens in detail.
In early June, Salagon takes part in See You at the Gardens: a weekend of fun events for the whole family (presentations, shows, workshops and a country fair on the Sunday).
During July and August, the ticket office staff will give you a booklet. Inside, you will find a discovery trail of Salagon for children.
If you're visiting with a larger group of relatives or friends, why not book a guided visit? (See above for details).
Salagon plays host to several events during the year, offering you an opportunity to experience the gardens through the seasons. Don't miss the Télérama museum weekend in early spring, the European Heritage Days in late summer and the Science Festival in the autumn.
We organise courses and workshops where adults and children alike can discover and try their hand at various activities linked to the gardens such as gathering wild salad leaves, dyeing and natural cosmetics.
